The Club has social rides throughout the year on Saturday mornings. These rides are suitable for all and new and prospective members are encouraged to come along and take part.
The main social ride is usually about 50 miles long and riden at about 15-16mph. The pace varies according to the route, conditions and the abilty of the group. If the group is large it may split into two or more smaller groups.
On the first Saturday of each month there is a "Come and Try It" ride of up to 30 miles at an easier pace. This ride is aimed at new riders who want to come along and have go without having to worry about being able to keep up on the longer ride.
There is also a race training ride for club members who road race.
The rides meet at 8:00 AM every Saturday at Café Nero on Church Road in Hove for a coffee and then departs promptly at 08:30.
The route for the ride is usually published on the web site each week. There is a designated ride leader who selects the route and then manages the ride on the road.
Riders are expected to carry spare tubes, pump/gas and be able to mend a puncture themselves. Depending on the size of the group the ride may not stop for punctures. This is at the discretion of the ride leader. Less experienced riders are encouraged to “buddy up” with another rider so if the group does not stop then they are not alone.
Riders should also bring enough suitable food/drink for the ride and dress appropriately for the weather.
Overall the rides are friendly and very welcoming for new riders. Experienced club members will often ride with new riders if the main ride is too fast or long.
Anyone wishing to join the ride should just come along and meet at Café Nero. We do ask that if you become a regular rider that you join the club. If you have any questions please email one of the contacts listed on this site.
