Surrey League AGM & Prize Presentation

Just got back from the Surrey League AGM & Prize Presentation.

Brighton Mitre finished 4th in the overall Surrey League club/team standings, with only London Dynamo, Abbiscombe & Kingston Wheelers placing above us. We also massed a record total of £1147 pounds in prize monies, top dosh earners being:-

CLUB KIT

The club kit is ready for collection. My appologies for the extended timeline on
this order but I have had a number of personal issues which have meant that I
have not been able to give this the time that it deserves.

Annual Awards Dinner Dance

Thank you to everyone who is attending Saturday evenings Dinner Dance.

It is a 7pm start at Terraces Bar and Grill, Madeira Drive, Brighton. Awards will be presented before dinner so your prompt arrival would really be appreciated. 

I will bring a list of all menu choices in case anyone has forgotten.

Come and Try It Ride - Thankyou

Thanks to everyone that came out this morning for the come and try it ride. For those who are new to the area the route we took is below. If anyone fancies a little more of a challenge we run a weekly social ride, starting from the same place at Cafe Nero on a Saturday morning. I'd recommend giving it a try if you feel up to it and you don't want to wait a month for the next come and try it! From what I saw today I'm sure all of you would get on fine. Here's a bit more infomation on the club rides and you can get an idea of routes and distances by looking back through some of the posts on this site.

Come and Try it Ride - Saturday 5th November

On the first Saturday of the month Brighton Mitre organises a Come And Try It Ride.

These rides are to encourage riders who are new to road cycling to join the club on a shorter group ride run separately from the main social ride.  It’s a great opportunity to meet members of the club and improve your group riding skills.  You do not have to be a club member to join this ride, however you do need:

• A road bike in good working order. If you have clipless pedals you need to be confident using them
• 1 (or more) spare inner tubes, tyre levers and a mini-pump
• Food and drink for a ride of this duration
• Riders are encouraged to check their bike is in working condition before the ride

The route will be decided on the day dependent upon the numbers and experience within the group but should be no longer than 3 hours.  The weather is hopefully set to be ok so if you would like to give it a try, we meet at Café Nero in Hove at 8:00am for an 8:30am depart this Saturday. Please note that we may not go via Albourne, so if you wish to join in head to the Café. 

The rider leader is Alan Buttler, please ask for him when you arrive and he’ll make you feel welcome!

ESCA and SCA Upcoming Events

There are a couple of events coming up that people may be interested in.

The first is the ESCA 65th Anniversary Reliability Trial, which is on Sunday 20th November 2011. These events are good fun - much like orienteering on a bike - and you have to give an estimated finish time for your ride. It is usual practice to add on an hour to what you think and then go to the pub with your mates and then - hey presto - turn up exactly on time!

The closing date for the ESCA reliability trial is Friday 11th November 2011 and antries should be sent direct to:
