Mill Hill hill climbs - 30/08 & 06/09

This week sees the return of the Mill Hill hill climb. The first is this Tuesday, 30th August and will start at 7pm. The second will be held the following Tuesday, 6th September at the same time.

It's easy to get to and a good test of strength for climbers and TT'ers alike, so come and give it a go. Entry is £2.

 

Social Ride Saturday 27th August

Here is the route for the social ride on Saturday 27th August.

The route is 53 miles and lumpy, but not too bad. There will be a choice of whether to come home over the Beacon, Clayton Hill or Devil's Dyke, depending on your home part of town. Could those with GPS systems download this route and put it on their devices, as there is every chance the ride leader might get lost!

Please bring enough spares, food and clothing to ensure that you are comfortable and can make it all the way around without assistance. The weather looks like it could be changeable, so warm and water/showerproof clothing is advised.

Average speed will be 16 to 17mph, no exceptions. The aim will be to keep the group together until the end of the ride. For those aspiring climbers wishing to attack the group on the hills, Ditchling Beacon will provide ample opportunity to do so!

The ride will be led by Phil Allen, so if you are new to the social ride, please ask for him at Cafe Nero (arrive before 8.30am, as that is the time we set off.)

Social Evening - Wed 31 Aug

Come along for a few drinks with your fellow Mitres at the Open House, Springfield Road from 8pm on Wednesday 31 August.

 

Social Ride - Saturday 13th August

Due to advanced age and technical incompetence there is no map link for this weeks ride however we will head north from Café Nero, over the Dyke to Albourne as usual and then head on a loop via Partridge Green, Maplehurst, Copsale, Mannings Heath, Pease Pottage, Handcross, Warninglid, Twineham, Poynings and back over the Dyke home. Total distance about 55 miles with options for more miles if the group fancy it.

As always, please come equipped to deal with your own mechanical problems and ensure you have sufficient food and water for a ride of this distance. And please remember this is a group ride; if you want to race then go and enter one!

Wineham 10-mile TT's

The first of three 10-mile TT's is tomorrow evening (Tuesday 9th August).

The course starts south of Wineham on Wineham Lane at 7pm. The organisers would be grateful for a good turnout, so whether you are a keen TT'er, a roadie, or a new member just looking to test their fitness, come and give it a go.
