Mitre Social Ride - Saturday 2nd July

Here is the route of this Saturday's social ride:

The route is just over 50 miles. It is a little bit lumpy in the middle, but nothing too dramatic. However, it will finish with a sting in the tail - the climb over Steyning Bostal.

The aim of the ride will be to do it at an average speed of 15 to 16mph and for the group to stay together. Please bring sufficient food, drink and spares for the ride.

Meet at Cafe Nero, Hove, from 8.00am for an 8.30am departure. If this is to be your first ride with the club, please let Phil Allen know on your arrival.

Mitre Road Race

Hi everyone

Thanks to all those who have already volunteered to help out with our road race at Kirdford next month. However, so far this only amounts to 10 positive responses - less than half of what we need and of these 3 are not Surrey League members! Remember that supporting our event is an obligation of your Surrey League Membership. Given that we now have 32 riders registered with the League, I need to hear from the other 25 people who have yet to get in touch - even if it's to say you can't make it that day. If possible, please can you email me as it's entirely possible that if you've said something to me on a ride that I will have forgotten it. Those who have already sent emails need not get in touch again.

If we don't get a better response this time around, I will have to resort to making phone calls! Remember that the aim is to get sufficient support to be able to let Mitre riders take part in the races as well.

Brighton Mitre 25-mile TT

Tomorrow evening hosts the Brighton Mitre 25-mile Time Trial. HQ/signing on is in West Grinstead, near Partridge Green.

Remember that roadies are welcome, so don't worry if you don't have a TT bike, disc wheels or a pointy helmet. Just turn up, give it your best and support this club event! If we get enough roadies we may even have to have a separate award category!

Social Ride - Sat 25th June

Rob Quin is leading the social ride this week.  8:30 depart as normal from Cafe Nero in Hove.  

Brighton Mitre win inter-club 10-mile TT

Brighton Mitre put in the best team performance to take the win at the inter-club 10 last night. The fastest three times by Mitre riders were by Paul Thatcher (22'48"), Tristan Court (23'17") and Phil Allen (24'23"). Brighton Mitre's chances of retaining the crown in this event was not guaranteed seeing as only two trialists were present on the night, but luckily a great turnout from a large number of roadies ensured that a good team performance was guaranteed. Thanks to all who attended and supported the event.

Interclub 10-mile TT

It's late notice, but don't forget that it's the annual inter-club 10-mile TT between Brighton Mitre, Brighton Excelsior and Sussex Nomads tonight (Tuesday 21st June). Bragging rights go to the club with the three fastest times, so it would be good to see a strong Mitre turnout.

It's on the regular Steyning-Shoreham course and first rider off is 7.30pm, so get to the signing on point in Tanyard Lane, Steyning a little while before then to sign on.

Social Ride - Sat 18th June

This weeks ride is hosted by Paul Thatcher. The ride heads west and is about 60 miles.  Please bring food/drink/money/spare tubes.  Depart as normal 08:30 from Cafe Nero in Hove.

Richard Sexty will be the ride leader. Meet at Cafe Nero, Hove, from 8.00am for an 8.30am depart. Please all remember to bring spares, food, jovial chatter and road etiquette.

Slower ride option for Saturday 11th June

A slower ride will be taking place this coming Saturday 11th June, which will be led by Rob Fuller. This is not an official 'Come And Try It' ride, but new members are welcome to come along. As per the 'Come And Try It' ride, it is a ride for road bikes only and all riders are expected to be fully competent and self-sufficient.

Annual Dinner Dance

Annual Dinner and Dance - HOLD THE DATE. This years dinner and dance will be at Terraces Bar in Brighton on Saturday 12th November. More details to follow with requests for RSVP - just a date for your diary at this stage.
